Kalyvox vs Goodcall: two very different billing models

Both are AI phone agents for small businesses, both are self-serve, and both answer 24/7. The real decision is the billing model, and it is unusual enough on Goodcall's side that it deserves a page of its own.

Goodcall publishes a per-agent monthly price with unlimited minutes, but meters the number of unique customers per month — Starter, Growth and Scale tiers cover a set number of unique callers, with a per-additional-customer charge beyond that, plus limits on logic flows, team members and call-history retention. Annual billing is discounted. (Public pricing page, checked September 2026.)

Kalyvox is an AI receptionist billed as a monthly plan plus actual call usage, with no cap on how many different people call you. Scenarios, intents, escalation rules and calendar booking are configured in the dashboard, and every call produces a structured ticket with transcript, detected intent and contact details.

• Businesses whose callers repeat: a dental practice, a gym, a property manager with the same tenants calling all month. You pay once per person, however often they call and however long they talk.
• Long conversations: unlimited minutes genuinely removes the anxiety of a caller who talks for ten minutes.
• Teams comfortable designing logic flows within the tier limits they are on.

• Businesses with a wide, non-repeating funnel: contractors, locksmiths, roofers, emergency services, agencies. Every caller is new, which is exactly the case where per-unique-customer pricing gets expensive fastest.
• Short, structured calls: shorter qualification calls consume less actual call usage.
• Owners who want unlimited scenarios without moving up a tier to add another one.
• Bilingual lines, where French and English callers hit the same number.

Take your last full month and count two numbers: distinct callers and total talk minutes.

• Many distinct callers, short calls → Kalyvox avoids charging by unique caller, while usage follows actual conversation time.
• Few distinct callers, long or repeated calls → the unlimited-minutes model (Goodcall) is normally cheaper.

There is no universally cheaper option here, and any page telling you otherwise is selling something. The cost per handled call page walks through the arithmetic with real volumes.

Nothing on your phone line changes: you keep your number and simply repoint call forwarding. Bring your existing greeting, your FAQ answers and your transfer rules across during the free trial, run both for a week, and compare the tickets your team actually receives.
